Music Together ® is an internationally recognized early childhood music program founded in 1987 for very young children ~ ages newborn to five, and the adults who love them. This program helps foster bringing music back into homes and communities. Music Together introduces children to the pleasures of making music instead of passively receiving it from CDs or TV. The participation and musical role model of the parent or the caregiver makes this program so special, and successful.
Research has shown that children who have had exposure to making music at a very young age can achieve music competence earlier than those who have not had a rich musical environment. Increasing their vocabulary and early language skills as a result, building their confidence, and creativeness, as well as giving them the foundation they need when it comes time to begin formal instrument lessons around the age of 7.
What is a Music Together class like?

Classes are 45 minutes long and meet once a week usually for 10 weeks. Classes are taught by a certified Music Together teacher. Parents and Caregivers act as musical role models for the children in the classroom as well as continuing that role at home by listening to the CDs. So be prepared to participate and have fun to make this the most successful experience for your children. We sing, dance, create/chant rhythm and tonal patterns, drawing on the creativeness of our children to create new verses, new sounds, and fun movements to our songs. We shake eggs, play with sticks, resonator bells, and have instrument play along times. This is a non-performance, relaxed and playful environment. The curriculum is developmentally appropriate and each child learns at their own pace.
There are 9 song collections in Music Together, and each family receives a Song book and two CDs to enjoy at home. Each semester we have a new song collection that is rich in traditional folk songs from around the world, with an introduction to tunes in unusual tonality not often heard in the Western world and rhymes in unusual meter, setting this musical program apart from other programs out there.
This is a wonderful time to bond with your child and they will remember their musical experience they had with you forever. The gift of this musical time and experience will enrich their lives and will build an appreciation and love they will carry with them throughout life.
